SAP ME

For companies in the discrete manufacturing industry, production processes in the plant play a particularly significant role. To ensure quality, timeliness and cost efficiency, these processes require precise control and inspections. With a Manufacturing Execution System (MES), smooth operations in production as well as a company-wide integration of all relevant information can be made possible from the shop floor to the top floor. With SAP Manufacturing Execution (ME), you have a powerful, scalable manufacturing solution that enables the production processes to be controlled and managed.

  • In combination with SAP MII and SAP PCo, SAP ME also provides other functionalities besides the typical functions of a modern MES:
  • Real-time integration with SAP ERP
  • Order fine control (extension of work schedules from SAP ERP)
  • Operating data acquisition (ODA)
  • Machine data acquisition (MDA)
  •  Support the workers (Worker dashboards, work instructions, 3D support)
  • Engineering change management
  • Nonconformance management
  • Statistical process control
  • Overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  • Labor tracking
  • Real time reporting
  • Tracking & Tracing
  • Test & Repair

SAP MII

SAP’s Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (MII) provides a platform for vertical integration between the business and manufacturing levels. This allows users an integrated and timely view of data and processes from ERP through to the shop floor level. With a focus on a continual increase in productivity, SAP MII operates as a technical information hub for a barrier-free data transfer. So the name is no coincidence. “Manufacturing integration” describes the application’s potential to enter into a comprehensive connection between commercial divisions and manufacturing. On the other hand, “manufacturing intelligence” shows that the collection, processing and graphic visualization of information for the end-user can be seen as further strengths of the application. These terms are part of the “adaptive manufacturing” approach, which aims to present and analyze production data centrally. This dynamic type of production allows a decision maker to respond immediately to any events that may come.

In accordance with the “from shop-floor to top-floor” axiom, SAP MII makes it possible to display and monitor all of the key data from production into a single, intuitive interface in real time. With the release of version 15.0, many functionalities were enhanced and features were integrated, such as SAP Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) management. Using SAP OEE the plant performance can be measured and evaluated, both in real time and historically.

Sharing products like SAP ME and SAP PCo allows for a comprehensive manufacturing solution which forms the basis for entry into the age of Industry 4.0.
